Doctors and surgeons in Bollywood/Indian movies are awesome. They use someone else's body organ and transplant it into some other person's body by making a big incision and wounds.

Isn't that interesting? obviously "yes"

But have you ever thought, it is even possible? people really recovered by that way?

Well, ofcourse, it is possible and these surgeries are the most common and traditional surgery of our country. But, what if I tell you that you need not to get big wounds and cuts on your body to repair your body organ?

You maybe thinking, No way! it is possible. But, you would be shocked to know that it is possible and this is known as laparoscopic surgery which can only be performed by a laparoscopic surgeon

There are open surgeries too, So in this article, I thought I will help you to get you to understand about both the surgeries in detail. let's dive in and learn about them.

What is Laparoscopic surgery?

Who likes to get a big cut on his/her body? Maybe no one, Everyone likes their surgery to be clean and easy to be recovered.

Laparoscopy is surgery in which a small slender tool known as a laparoscope is used to do the surgery. The tool consists of a small camera and a light at the end of the tool.

A laparoscopic surgeon usually performs this surgery in which he makes small cuts into the body part and inserts the laparoscope to do the surgery and monitors what's happening inside you.  L

Hernia surgery, Gallstone surgery, Kidney stone surgery, and many more conditions and problems can be treated with Laparoscopic surgery.

The main benefits of Laparoscopic surgery are, you need not to wait months to get recovered from your wounds and you will be able to perform your daily activity just after 24 hours of surgery.

What is Open surgery?

Have youever seen any movies and series in which characters playing doctors make bigincisions inside the body to perform and surgery and operations? Well, what do you think in your mind? is it good/ bad? or it is even possible?

Well, itis possible and this type of surgery and operation is known as Open surgery. Itis one of the traditional method of performing any operation and surgery.

In open surgery, large incisions are made on the body of the patient to remove and\repair any organ. It is generally performed at the time when transplant of any organ or heavy repair is needed which can not be treated with laser or laparoscopy surgery.

What is the main difference between Laparoscopic surgery and Open Surgery?

The main difference between Laparoscopic surgery and open surgery is given below.

  1. Small incisions and cuts are made on the body of patients in Laparoscopic surgery, while large cuts andbwounds are made in open surgery.
  2. Laparoscopic surgery is performed by a laparoscopic surgeon and open surgery is performed by an     expert team of doctors.
  3. Laparoscopic surgery cannot be used to transplant kidneys and hearts, but in open surgery, doctors can do the transplant operations for you like, kidney, heart, etc.
  4. In Laparoscopic surgery, you need to wait to get recovered from your surgeries wounds, but in open     surgery, you need to wait months to get fully recovered.
  5. Through small incision entire organs can be visualised, so sometimes unknown pathology can also     be identified in Laparoscopic surgery
  6. In Laparoscopic surgery better field of vision for the surgeon and entire team while in open surgery it     would be difficult.
  7. The cost of laparoscopic  surgery is generally less than the cost of open surgery.
